Taking Inventory: Reflections on What Matters Most

November 11, 20253 min read

November has always been a month that nudges me to slow down, breathe deeply, and take inventory of life’s blessings. But this year, it feels different—deeper. I’ve been reflecting not just on what I’m thankful for, but on what truly matters most. What fills my soul? What aligns with the life God has called me to live?

These reflections have led me to an important truth: living intentionally requires more than just gratitude. It calls for clarity, courage, and a willingness to take action in areas that matter most. It’s about showing up—not just for others, but for ourselves.

The Power of Intentional Time and Relationships

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is how precious time really is. In the busyness of life, it’s so easy to let distractions creep in and rob us of meaningful moments. I’ve been challenging myself to be more intentional with my time—putting the phone down during family dinners, carving out moments for prayer and stillness, and making space for honest conversations with the people I love.

Relationships thrive when we nurture them with intentionality. And that starts with being present—not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually. Whether it’s making time to listen to a friend’s heart or expressing gratitude to someone who has impacted my life, I’m learning that small, intentional actions can create deep, lasting connections.

Accepting What I Cannot Change (and Finding My Voice)

This month, I’ve also been reminded of the serenity prayer: “God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.”

There’s so much peace in surrendering what’s out of my control, but I’ve realized surrender doesn’t mean silence. Even as I learn to accept certain circumstances, I’m learning the importance of speaking truth and having a voice.

Speaking truth isn’t about being loud; it’s about being authentic. It’s about honoring who we are and standing firm in our values, even when it’s uncomfortable. I’ve found that when we stay true to our souls—when we communicate with both courage and compassion—we not only honor ourselves but create space for others to do the same.

Being True to Ourselves and Living Aligned

So many of us wear different hats and juggle countless responsibilities, but how often do we pause and ask ourselves if we’re truly living in alignment with what matters most?

Being true to ourselves starts with reflection—taking inventory of our priorities, values, and actions. Are we making time for what fills us up? Are we communicating our needs and boundaries in a way that honors God and others?

Are we saying “yes” to the right things and “no” to what no longer serves us?

These questions have been at the forefront of my heart this month, and they’ve challenged me to be more intentional in every area of life.

An Invitation to Reflect

As we move through November, I invite you to join me in taking inventory of your own life. What truly matters most to you? How can you be more intentional with your time, your relationships, and your voice?

Let’s give ourselves permission to release what we cannot control and embrace the power of speaking truth with love. When we do, we step into a life of freedom—one that reflects the beauty and purpose God has for us.
